We had a blast at the Pumpkin Toss! 15 machines were competing, the largest year in a long time. In a manner fitting our team's new barbarian theme, we fought well and earned 3rd place but were outdone by more "modern" and "civilized" engines. Garbo the trebuchet threw his new personal best distance of 159 yards and earned his place in Valhalla!

Although upkeep is not finished, I have been putting in a lot of work and wanted to take a day to confirm that the machine is operational and see how it is running. The new boardwalk and formwork and the added stakes are holding the machine very well to the ground. Launching 20lb stone 800 feet with our trebuchet "the Sentinel."

This shows our latest round of launching fireballs this winter. We no longer chicken out on the counterweight so it's much more impressive. We've also got an amazing location at the top of a hill!

This is a rough-and-ready follow-along as I make a Balearic-style sling out of paracord. With some practice braiding you can make all kinds of designs and color patterns.

Bowling balls weighed 14-16 lbs and were traveling 220-250 yards. Counterweight box total weight on the day was maybe 1500 lbs.
